Philippe Starck
Philippe Starck (1949) is the son of an aircraft designer, Andre Starck. Starck's task was to come up with new applications for old designs, to take fundamental designs that already existed and improve them. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why his son Philippe became accustomed to redesigning our world. The young Philippe Starck started drawing and had an unusual eye for design which already showed at an early age. He played in his father's large workshop, which was filled with machines, engines and parts that were irresistible to a curious young boy. Starck's version of playtime was dismantling the machines and putting them back together again in his own way, just like his father. It was a tendency that would determine the rest of his life.
